Produce Pipeline, a website that went live Sept. 30, offers daily produce deals for retailers, wholesalers and foodservice buyers nationwide.

For growers with excess inventory due to market conditions or shelf life, the online service provides a way to reach buyers, according to a news release.

Producers simply provide general information, such as commodity, grade, variety and f.o.b. deal price, and Produce Pipeline lists the information on its website and in frequent e-mails.

Buyers draw from the same information to buy new inventory at a manageable price point, enhancing margins, according to the release.

The website,, is a subsidiary of Bellevue, Wash.-based produce distributor Pacificpro Inc.

“We at Pacificpro have been procuring and distributing produce for three generations,” Randy Hartmann, Produce Pipeline founder and a Pacificpro partner, said in the release. “We have well-established relationships with buyers across the country. We hear day after day from those buyers that they want and will take advantage of flash sales.”
