Carolina Leap, whose husband Kevin Leap is a West Pak salesman, lost six family members in the typhoon that struck the island nation in November. She is the co-founder and president of BKP-California, a nonprofit relief organization and literacy advocate for the Philippines.

Of the money raised by West Pak Avocado, its vendors and customers:

  • $10,000 will fund a community growing garden where participants can grow fruits and vegetables for their own consumption or for sale.
  • $5,000 will fund 12 non-motorized boats and other fishing equipment for 12 fishermen in an Eastern Samar village who lost boats to the typhoon. It’s through a BKP-California partnership with Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation, which runs an Adopt a Fisherman program.
