Western Growers members will have a chance to have their questions about the produce safety rule answered by the Food and Drug Administration’s Jim Gorny in a Jan. 18 Web seminar.
Western Growers offers online registration for the event, which is slated from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Pacific time on Jan. 18.
Gorny, FDA’s senior advisor for produce safety, will address the agency’s work on the proposed produce safety regulation, which sets mandatory federal standards for growing, harvesting, packing and holding produce for human consumption.
Hank Giclas, senior vice president of strategic planning for Irvine, Calif.-based Western Growers, will also participate, according to Western Growers.
The association’s science and technology team will host additional Web seminars in the next two months on the FDA’s produce safety regulations and how existing industry programs relate to the new regulations, according to Western Growers.
