It’s growing season at Wholesum Family Farms, but not just in the organic greenhouses. The Nogales, Ariz., grower-shipper is in growth mode on Facebook, seeking to entice users to “like” the company for a chance to win produce and other prizes.

Through Aug. 31, the “Grow With Us” contest will give away a crate of certified organic Wholesum Harvest brand produce for every increase of 500 likes the company receives on Facebook. Wholesum grows organic tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, eggplants, mangoes, squash and zucchini.

The winning names will be randomly selected from those who register on the company’s Facebook page. Simply liking the Wholesum page does not register a Facebook user. An online registration must be submitted also.

As of the morning of April 11, the company had 244 likes for its page.

If the company receives 2,000 likes by Aug. 31, a grand-prize winner will be drawn. The actual prize will be determined by the number of likes logged. The minimum prize will be a $500 gift certificate for a grocery store that sells Wholesum Harvest brand.

At 3,500 likes the grand-prize changes to a three-day, two-night trip for two to Tubac Golf resort in Tubac, Ariz. If the like total hits 5,000 by Aug. 31, the grand-prize winner will receive both the $500 gift certificate and the resort trip.

The contest coincides with Wholesum Family Farms first harvest season at its new 12-acre greenhouse. Ricardo Crisantes, vice president of sales and marketing, said in the news release the company expects a yield of 9 million pounds of organic tomatoes in the first harvest.
