The new name stands for Xata Road Science and the company expects to be listed on the NASDAQ Capital Market under the new symbol XRSC on Aug. 14, according to a news release.
The name change for the company is driven by its new, all-mobile platform, which is also called XRS. This is designed to help fleets and drivers capture data to keep drivers and fleets compliant and to cut costs.
“We’ve always been at the forefront of developing technologies and services that have brought the power of science to the trucking industry,” said Jay Coughlan, chief executive officer of XRS Corporation, in the release. “Now, we’ve pioneered mobile fleet optimization, a revolution that’s literally putting the power of technology in every driver’s hand. Our new name honors Xata’s proud history while reflecting our breakthrough new mobile technology.”
XRS mobile is currently in beta testing and is expected to be available in 2013, according to the release.
