YottaMark Inc., Redwood City, Calif., has appointed Charlie Piper, a former vice president of corporate retail operations for Safeway, chief executive officer.
The appointment signals Yottamark's focus on retailers and food brands, according to a news release.
"The future for big data solutions is very bright, and I look forward to working with the company’s dedicated employees to bring innovative products and services to our customers,” Piper said in the release.
He most recently was chief executive officer of Prommis Solutions, which processed foreclosures for mortgage servicers and real-estate law companies. He's also been CEO of DVDPlay Inc. and ePay, and senior vice president of Blackhawk Network Inc.
YottaMark's traceability solutions program, HarvestMark, is known for item-level traceability and Voice Pick Code capabilities, and the company's Shopwell application makes it easier for consumers identify healthful food choices.
"(Yottamark is) not afraid to create new things for their customers and push the envelope of the possible” said Reggie Griffin, former Kroger vice president and YottaMark advisor, in the release. “This is exactly what retailers want today, and Charlie Piper is a very smart addition to their executive team.
