Adam Putnam is sworn in as Florida's agriculture commissioner.

In his Jan. 4 swearing in ceremony, Putnam began his tenure by promoting a new Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services website.

“One of the Department’s goals to is to promote and market fresh Florida products,” Putnam said. “Using ‘Fresh From Florida’ not only helps us accomplish this mission but will also help the average Web surfer with name recognition and navigability.”

The event at Florida’s Old Capitol in Tallahassee included the swearing in of the state’s newly elected governor, Rick Scott, and other cabinet members.

Putnam, a four-term Republican congressman from Bartow, Fla., becomes the state’s 11th commissioner of agriculture.
