(Aug. 12, 3:51 p.m.) A new executive education advisory committee has been named to develop the platform for the 11th annual Food Safety Summit.

The summit, which has a Web site at www.foodsafetysummit.com, is scheduled for April 27-29 in Washington D.C.

The committee is developing an educational platform for food industry professionals that emphasizes solutions and not just “statements of situations,” Scott Wolters, director of tradeshows and conferences of summit manager BNP Media, Troy, Mich., said in a news release.

The executive committee is made up of growers, processors, trade associations, foodservice operators, academics, legal professionals and private consultants.

Committee members include:

  • Will Daniels, vice president of quality, food safety and organic integrity for San Juan Bautista, Calif.-based Natural Selection Foods LLC;


  • Donald Zink, senior food scientist for the Food and Drug Administration;


  • Sharon Wood, director of food safety for H.E. Butt Grocery Co., San Antonio; and


  • Scott Brooks, director of food safety and quality assurance Yum! Brands Inc., Louisville, Ky.

More than 1,500 industry leaders in food safety and quality assurance are expected to attend the summit, where some 200 exhibitors will be participating, according to the release.
