(June 28) Grocer Albertson’s Inc., Boise, Idaho, has advised that shoppers who recently purchased the firm's 1-pound bags of peeled baby carrots or Grimmway Classic Cut and Peeled baby 1-pound carrots (best if used by June 17, 2006, lot number 138221E6), should throw away or return the products.

According to a Central Valley Business Times report, the notice came after Albertson’s was warned by Bakersfield, Calif.-based carrot supplier Grimmway Farms that a single bag of baby peeled carrots in Canada tested positive for Salmonella.

To date, there have been no other such positive tests nor any customer illnesses tied to the carrots, the article said.
