A company known for its child-friendly foods is seeking help from consumers to generate support for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s proposed changes to include more fresh fruits and vegetables in school lunches.
Annie’s Homegrown program, “Root 4 Kids,” runs through April 11 and provides an easy way to submit comments to the government, according to a news release.
“Annie’s wants to show a tremendous amount of enthusiasm from people nationwide who, like us, are thankful the USDA has taken action to help alleviate childhood obesity,” said Sarah Bird, Annie's senior vice president of marketing, in the release.
By visiting Annie’s Root 4 Kids website, www.root4kids.com, children, parents, school officials and others can upload their thoughts and photos about the importance of fresh produce in school lunches.
Annie’s launched Root 4 Kids in partnership with the National Farm to School Network www.FarmToSchool.org to inspire 1 million children to plant vegetables through harvest 2011. Adults can pledge support at www.Root4Kids.com/join.
