(July 11, 7:30 p.m.) Lucky Green Trading Inc. has recalled Thai basil because of potential salmonella contamination.

A company spokeswoman said the fresh basil, which was imported from Mexico, was recalled July 9 after testing by the Food and Drug Administration. She said FDA did not indicate what strain of salmonella was involved. However, an FDA spokesman said the recall was unrelated to an ongoing outbreak of Salmonella Saintpaul.

The FDA said in a news release that the recalled basil was distributed through retailers and direct delivery to customers in California, Arizona and Nevada on June 30. The bagged product was shipped in 14-pound cartons.

FDA said Lucky Green Trading had suspended distribution and importing the product.
