(Aug. 7, 12:50 p.m.) Coastline Produce, Salinas, Calif., now offers French Filet green beans in microwaveable bags.

The green beans are available in 12-ounce bags, with six or nine bags per carton. The bags are printed in either English for the U.S. market and French/English for the Canadian marketplace, according to a news release.

Phil Adrian, partner in Coastline, said the company is offering the value-added product in response to customer and consumer requests.

“When we spoke with consumers they said they wanted fresh, good-flavored green beans with the convenience of being able to microwave in the bag,” he said in the release. “Since the beans offer excellent eating characteristics, we needed a unique product identifier. That is where the term ‘French Filet’ comes from. At the end of the day, when the consumer enjoys the product, they come back and buy them again and again.”

Coastline grows the green beans year-round in California, packing them within hours of harvest.

“Our new green bean products are just one more example of our commitment to meeting the ever-changing needs of our customer base, Adrian said in the release.”
