The Miami-based importer and exporter of Chilean grapes, apples and stone fruit has struck packing deals with two Delano, Calif., grape packinghouses and for the first time, is packing grapes in its own label.

Previously, Bayshore purchased fruit from California, but on July 7, it began packing under the Grapes in the Sun label.

The partnerships should provide Bayshore with up to 3 million pounds of fruit, said Mike Ryan Jr., business development manager for Bayshore’s Tampa, Fla., division.

Bayshore Produce LLC Bayshore is using Hronis Inc., and another company Ryan declined to name.

Bayshore packs red, green and black seedless grapes and red seeded grapes in the resealable plastic handle bags that feature bright colors that attempt to catch shoppers’ eyes, Ryan said.

“We can essentially offer a year-round program for our customer base,” he said. “One of our primary business units is bringing products in from Chile. Packing under this label from California gives us that year-round capability, so our customers will never feel the pain of needing to find new products and new pricing.”

Mike RyanRyanIn August 2013, Ryan and Brent Scoggins, who formerly worked for Eden Prairie, Minn.-based C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc., and Ryan’s father, Mike Ryan Sr., started Bayshore’s Tampa division in Valrico, Fla.

At C.H. Robinson, Ryan was business development manager and Scoggins was in sales.

In 2010, Rosann Cabrera, who also worked for C.H. Robinson as Southeast produce manager, founded Bayshore which also imports smaller volumes of grapes from Peru.
