Direct Source Marketing is expanding its marketing reach by launching a website that includes new purchasing capabilities.
Direct uploads new photos of the fruit daily and includes information on sizing references, varieties and packaging details, said Ira Greenstein, president.
Greenstein said he wanted to start a website that was different for other sites and advance transactions away from strictly by telephone.
“My vision was to create an actual buying tool vs. a standardized non-living entity website which people may visit once but never return,” he said. “We want to capture our buyers’ attention. Having a virtual cold storage gives us a unique opportunity for buyers to interact and become more a part of the process in knowing what they’re buying, particularly on the replenishment side.”
Direct Source, which is in its fifth year, imports Chile and Peru grapes, peaches, plums and nectarines into New York and Philadelphia ports and during the summer and fall, trucks California grapes and stone fruit to wholesale, retail and foodservice customers.
The site went online June 1.
