The Tucuman region leads the deal with the earliest berries and Early Crop leads the Tucuman harvest, shipping some of the region’s earliest blueberries, according to a news release from Giumarra, Los Angeles.
Early Crop is a new company, but its founder Ariel Ares has been growing blueberries in Tucuman for the past decade. He said it has been a dream of his for producers in Argentina to develop a closer relationship with consumers around the globe and the deal with Giumarra is a step toward that, according to the release.
The added volume from Early Crop is expected to double Giumarra’s blueberry supplies from Tucuman this year compared to the 2012 import season, according to the release.
“This ensures we will once again be one of the largest and earliest import companies from this key growing region, which is important in continuing to fully supply our customer base,” Giumarra’s vice president of global development, Tom Richardson, said in the release.
