A California organic grower and importer is now bringing in asparagus from Argentina.

Watsonville-based A&A Organic Farms expects to import 20,000 cases of organic asparagus from grower Finca Fresh and 8,000 cases from grower Andres Barbieri, according to an A&A news release.

A&A is shipping Barbieri’s asparagus, from the Tulum Valley region of Argentina, under the Maragos label. The Finca Fresh product, from the Patagonia region, will be packed under the Guanaco label.

Product is being packed in 11-pound bunches with PLU tags and labels in both English and French to allow shipments to Canada.

A&A received its first shipment of Argentinean organic asparagus in mid-September, with peak volumes expected in October. The deal would likely wind down around Thanksgiving.
