The Irvine-based California Avocado Commission traveled to Boston to take the fruit’s health and nutrition message to attendees of the American Dietetic Association’s Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo.

The commission’s staff joined the Hass Avocado Board and other avocado promotion groups to encourage attendees at the Nov. 7-9 event to spread the word about the nutritional benefits of avocados, according to a news release.

“Registered dietitians are important influencers who interact with consumers about nutrition,” Jan DeLyser, vice president of marketing, said in the release. “While many already include avocados in their diet recommendations, it is important to provide them with the research findings and information about avocado nutrition.”

Joining the commission’s staff during the conference were Julie Upton, registered dietitian and author of the book, “Energy to Burn,” and Liz Weiss and Janice Newell Bissex, registered dietitians known as the Meal Makeover Moms, www.mealmakeovermoms.com.
