California growers expect to pack nearly 100,000 cartons of organic pears this season, according to the California Pear Advisory Board, Sacramento.
The vast majority of that volume will be handled by Sedro-Woolley, Wash.-based CF Fresh, sales manager Matt Roberts said.
Roberts said CF Fresh will handle all the organic sales of Greene and Hemly Inc., Courtland, Calif., this season. CF Fresh previously had shared responsibility for marketing that grower’s organic volume with Crown Jewels Marketing & Distribution LLC, Fresno, Calif.
Crown Jewels, however, will continue to handle Greene and Hemly’s conventional sales, Roberts said.
CF Fresh also handles sales for Steamboat Orchards Packing Co. LLC, Walnut Grove, Calif.
Roberts said CF Fresh expects to sell about 80,000 cartons of organic pears from California this season. He said the majority of that volume will be bartletts, though there also will be some organic boscs.
Roberts said spring rains may limit sizing of the organic crop.
