(March 25) A recent cold snap may have damaged an estimated 50 million pounds of almonds throughout California’s San Joaquin Valley.

In an article from The Fresno Bee, Dave Baker, director of member relations for Blue Diamond Growers, Sacramento, said the loss should not have a significant impact on the overall crop and could help stabilize prices.

Last year, growers were unable to sell 450 million pounds of the 1.6 billion-pound crop because of a weak export market, the Bee reported.
