Hawaiian papaya volume up 53%

(Dec. 14) Production of fresh papaya in Hawaii was up 53% in October compared to last year, reports Honolulu’s Pacific Business News.

October's production was estimated at 3.3 million pounds – up 21% from September.

Production from January to October was 10% higher than the same period in 2006.

The stats were compiled by the National Agricultural Statistics Service Hawaii Field Office.
