BERLIN — Washington apple export sales are up 8% over last year.

Rebecca Baerveldt, export marketing manager for the Washington Apple Commission, Wenatchee, said at Fruit Logistica in Berlin that through mid-January, exports were outpacing last year's rate.

She said this was noteworthy because last year's crop was larger than this year.
'Our numbers will probably drop off when supplies run short later in the season,' she said, Feb.4.

The Washington Apple Commission sponsored a booth at Fruit Logistica, which six of the commission's member companies participated. Additionally, Chelan Fresh Marketing, Chelan, Wash., had its own booth at the convention.
