(July 14) Salinas, Calif.-based D’Arrigo Bros. of California has introduced iceless, precut and pre-washed broccoli rabe tips for foodservice.

The broccoli rabe is marketed under the Andy Boy label.

D’Arrigo Bros. hopes to attract operators that prefer iceless, said Margaret D’Arrigo-Martin, execu-tive vice president of sales and marketing.

“A lot of people will switch over because iced product is difficult for them to handle,” D’Arrigo-Martin said.

D’Arrigo-Martin declined to make volume predictions.

Each 2.5-pound microperfo-rated film bag holds about 10, 4-ounce servings of broccoli rabe. Broccoli rabe ships six bags per case.
