(June 16, PACKER WEB EXCLUSIVE) Grower members of Florida Citrus Mutual, Lakeland, June 11 elected one new officer, a president, two vice presidents and re-elected 17 others to govern the association for the 2008-09 season during the organization’s yearly conference in Bonita Springs, Fla.

The new member elected to the board of directors is:

  • Larry Black, production manager of Peace River Packing Co., Fort Meade.

New president:

  • Fran Becker, vice president of fruit procurement for Peace River Citrus Products Inc., Bradenton.

New vice presidents, who were board members who won re-election, are:

  • Victor Story Jr., president of Story Grove Service, Inc., Babson Park.


  • Mark Wheeler, president of Wheeler Farms, Lake Placid.

Re-elected were:

  • Robert Battaglia, vice president of Battaglia Fruit Co., Winter Park.


  • Raymond “Bo” Bentley Jr., fruit buyer/harvesting supervisor of Bentley Bros. Inc., Winter Haven.


  • Dennis Broadaway, general manager of Haines City Citrus Growers Association, Haines City.


  • J. Kevin Bynum, co-owner of Premier Citrus Packers LLC, Vero Beach.


  • J.A. "Jay" Clark III, Florida Citrus Mutual interim chief executive officer and owner of Clark Farms Inc., Wauchula.


  • Rex Clonts, owner of Clonts Farms Inc., Apopka.
