(Nov. 7) LAKE HAMILTON, Fla. — The addition of two citrus and retail merchandising veterans should help one of the state’s largest citrus packers expand its sales.

Diversified Citrus Marketing, the marketing arm of the Dundee Citrus Growers Association, plans to boost its production to 5 million boxes.

Last season, Dundee packed 4.2 million cartons, the largest amount packed by any single Florida packinghouse, according to the Florida Citrus Administrative Committee.

Diversified Citrus now has seven salesmen with the addition of Todd Mudger and John D’Albora IV.

Mudger, who has nearly 20 years of retail merchandising experience, has worked as a senior buyer for Ingles Markets Inc., Black Mountain, N.C., and for Food Lion Stores Inc., Salisbury, N.C.

D’Albora, who worked as an export account manager for the Vero Beach office of Oviedo-based A. Duda & Sons Inc., has been in the produce industry for more than a decade.

D’Albora became Diversified Citrus’ export sales manager Aug. 27 and Mudger joined the company Sept. 24 as a domestic salesman.

“I believe that my retail background will give Diversified Citrus better insight in to the buyers’ mindset.” Mudger said. “By understanding the buyers’ challenges of creating sales, writing ads and maintaining margins, an educated supplier becomes a more valuable resource to the buyer. Gaining a buyer’s confidence helps create the ultimate outcome for the supplier and the buyer.”
