(Aug. 11, 10:02 a.m.) Produce industry veteran Ted Campbell, a former Supervalu corporate director and industry association chairman, has been tapped to head the Florida Strawberry Growers Association, Dover.
After a national search, the associationâs board of directors on Aug. 8 announced Campbellâs selection to be executive director.
In a news release, Sue Harrell, the associationâs director of marketing, noted Campbellâs background in the produce industry includes retail and wholesale experience in procurement and sales.
A 20-year veteran and past chairman of the Produce Marketing Association and the Produce for Better Health Foundation, Campbell in 1999 left his corporate produce director position at Eden Prairie, Minn.-based Supervalu Inc. to be vice president of sales and marketing for Kerryâs Bromeliad Nursery Inc., Homestead, Fla.
Campbell, who has more than three decades of produce and floral industry experience, succeeds Shawn Crocker, who resigned in April from his executive director position.
Campbell said he was honored to have been selected.
âI am excited to work with such a dynamic group of growers and handlers,â he said in the release. âThe people in the produce business make it wonderfully unique. As we enter an era of escalating challenges, I look forward to helping our membership succeed and prosper."
