(May 9, PACKER WEB EXCLUSIVE) The Food Marketing Institute, Washington, D.C., announced the election of its 2008 board members on May 4 in Las Vegas, during its annual convention.

Steven Smith, president and chief executive officer of K-VA-T Stores Inc./Food City, Abingdon, Va., was elected as chairman of the board. Jeffrey Noddle, chairman and chief executive officer of Supervalu Inc., Minneapolis, remains on the board as immediate past chairman, according to a news release from the institute.
