(April 29, 5:25 p.m.) Next week’s Food Marketing Institute Show and Marketechnics grocery retail exposition will be the last overseen by its longtime chief.

Tim Hammonds, president and chief executive officer of Washington, D.C.-based FMI, announced his retirement April 29, according to an FMI news release.

Hammonds, who has had the position for 15 years, is FMI’s second leader. He will remain in the position until a successor is found, according to the release. Ronald Pearson, chairman emeritus of Hy-Vee Food Stores Inc., West Des Moines, Iowa, will lead the search for a replacement.

FMI’s annual show, set for May 4-7 in Las Vegas, runs concurrently with the Washington, D.C.-based United Fresh Produce Association’s annual convention.
