(Feb. 19) The lineup of speakers has been finalized for the second annual California Tree Fruit Agreement Educational Symposium, Feb. 26.

The day’s final session is expected to be the highlight of the symposium, said Sheri Mierau, president of the Tree Fruit Agreement. It addresses the next generation of food safety, she said. Speakers are Will Daniels, vice president of quality, food safety and organic integrity for Earthbound Farm, San Juan Bautista, Calif., and Dr. Trevor Suslow of the University of California-Davis.

California Department of Food and Agriculture secretary A.G. Kawamura is slated to be the luncheon speaker.

The day’s opening session is an update on the agricultural labor picture from Barry Bedwell, president of the California Grape & Tree Fruit League, Fresno, and a retail panel discussion.

One of the two post-lunch presentations focuses on technology advances in the stone fruit industry. Addressing the session will be Kelly Kirschner, senior marketing manager for Sinclair Systems International LLC, Fresno, and Kelvin Farris, sales manager for Aweta-Autoline Inc., Reedley.

At the other post-lunch session, the association’s staff will unveil the latest marketing tools and resources for the upcoming season.

The symposium for the Reedley, Calif.-based Tree Fruit Agreement will be at the Fresno Convention and Entertainment Center.
