Los Angeles-based Gourmet Trading will promote its peeled white asparagus in 9-ounce, 1-pound and 1.5-pound packs for the holidays, according to a company news release.
Point-of-sale materials will be available to support promotions.
Gourmet Trading launched its Peruvian peeled white asparagus program in February. Customers like the pre-peeled option because white asparagus peels can be bitter, Julia Inestroza, the company’s marketing director, said in the release.
“White Asparagus adds a touch of elegance to any holiday meal, and now with peeled white asparagus, it’s easy to prepare,” Inestroza said. “Now that the guesswork of cooking white asparagus is gone, consumers and chefs have the chance to try something new for their holiday meals.”
Retail and foodservice customers also have told Gourmet Trading they have lower shrink with the peeled packs.
Product is hand-peeled and packed in Peru to preserve freshness, Brian Miller. Gourmet Trading’s president, said in the release.
