Performance Food Group Inc. officials said in a news release the addition of Fox River Foods to its family of companies will strengthen its position in the upper Midwest and several key metro areas, including Chicago.
It was not immediately known if staff of Fox River Foods would be retained, but in the release Fox River president Ken Nagel said his company’s customers and suppliers would benefit from the transaction. He said PFG’s national scope and purchasing power combined with Fox River’s customer service and strong operations should be a winning formula in the region.
Fox River is an independently owned, broadline foodservice distribution company that was founded in 1956. It now serves more than 7,000 customers in seven states, including restaurants, schools, health care facilities, hotels and child care centers.
The Montgomery, Ill., company recently expanded its warehouse, increasing its storage capacity to 326,000 square feet, including dry, refrigerated and frozen storage areas.
