Specialty Produce supplier Harvest Sensation, Los Angeles, has revamped its online presence with an interactive Web site aimed at chefs and consumers.
The Web site, www.harvestsensations.com, features more timely online information, product lists, recipes, menu suggestions and an “Ask the Chef” section, said president Dean Simon. The company introduced the site May 11.
Harvest Sensations is Monterey, Calif.-based Pro*Act’s specialty produce brand geared toward chefs and restaurant operators. The site allows chefs to order specialty products online.
The company’s goal is to offer chefs and consumers more information about seasonal and specialty fresh-cut produce and commodities as well as make these items more accessible through recipes, Simon said.
“It’s meant to let people get out their comfort zone with cooking different types of vegetables,” Simon said.
Though most of the company’s customer base is in foodservice, Simon said, a primary focus of the Web site is to introduce consumers to produce seen in “white tablecloth” restaurants. It’s also part of Harvest Sensation’s expansion into retail, Simon said.
The re-design took about eight months to complete, Simon said, and the site will be updated regularly with new product information, recipes and availability.
Harvest Sensation was founded in 2000. The company provides offerings from a network of local, national and international farms, and also produces a wide variety of plate-ready, hand-cut vegetables and herbs, according to the company’s Web site.
Pro*Act will be displaying product and talking about Harvest Sensations at the National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant, Hotel and Motel show in Chicago May 16-19.
