Steve Grinstead and Pro*Act are determined that its advocacy for fresh produce industry issues in Washington, D.C., will not be a passing fad.

During the recent Washington Public Policy Conference, the United Fresh Produce Association awarded Monterey, Calif.-based Pro*Act LLC with the Produce Industry Advocate of the Year Award.

The award is given annually to the United Fresh member that shows exceptional commitment and support for produce policy advocacy.

“We’re very proud to receive this recognition from United Fresh,” said Steve Grinstead, president and chief executive officer of Pro*Act, in a news release.

He said in the release that the level of involvement of company employees and distributors has climbed steadily in recent years and he doesn’t think it will wane anytime soon.

“This is a critical time for the produce industry from a public policy standpoint, and Pro*Act is committed to continuing to work closely with United Fresh, other industry associations, elected officials and government agencies to help our great industry be the best it can be,” Grinstead said in the release.
