Arena Produce Co. adds more products

Columbus, Ohio-based wholesaler Arena Produce Co. Inc. has expanded its product line, said Anthony Arena, president.

“We’re handling a little more diverse line of product and a lot of that has to do with working with the new casino in Columbus, which has five different venues,” Arena said.

That’s the Hollywood Casino Columbus, which opened in 2012.

“They’re good people to deal with and try to support people like myself and hire a lot of local people,” he said.

Sirna & Sons Produce makes upgrades

Wholesale distributor Sirna & Sons Produce, is in the midst of upgrades and personnel additions, said Tom Sirna, chief executive officer.

The company is expanding its headquarters facility in Ravenna, Ohio, having added 10,000 square feet to its distribution center in East Norwalk, Ohio, a year ago, Sirna said.

“We’re drawing up plans for another eight to 10 docks, a cooler, a freezer — probably 40,000 square feet total,” Sirna said.

The company also rolled out a new software system for all of its operations this year and in April brought in a new fleet of trucks, Sirna said.

Sirna also hired three salesmen and is looking to add another, to operate in Pennsylvania, Sirna said.

One of the new sales reps is Anthony Sirna, Tom Sirna’s son, a recent graduate of Ohio State University who had been working in various capacities with the company through his high school and college years.

The other two additions to the sales staff are Derek Foust and Jim Heinzman, both of whom work in Columbus, Ohio.

“They both have nice backgrounds — Jim has 10 years in the produce business, and Derek has five,” Tom Sirna said.
