Shipment safety spurs Locus Traxx relocation

Citing growing food safety concerns in transportation, a Florida based food safety and logistics firm is expanding into larger headquarters.

Jupiter, Fla.-based Locus Traxx is moving into a 60,000-square-foot facility and planning to add 100 workers, according to a news release. Locus Traxx is relocating to the Florida Research Park west of the Atlantic Coastal city.

Locus Traxx says its growth is being fueled by the increasing concern by its grower-shippers, wholesalers, retailers and transportation customers about the freshness and safety of produce, floral and other perishable products during transport, according to the release.

The company’s OverSight system uses wireless radio frequency identification SmartTag sensors, SmartTraxx combination tag readers, Global Positioning System and cellular technology modules and cloud-based maps. That technology provides real-time information on shipment temperature, door security and location for perishable shipments, according to the release.

Customers can monitor shipment status and can receive alerts via text and e-mail whenever a shipment temperature, door security or location security issue requires attention, according to the release.

“Access to fresh produce is one of the best ways for consumers to stay healthy,” David Benjamin, Locus Traxx’s president and chief executive officer, said in the release.

“Maintaining proper shipment temperatures is essential to keeping perishable food shipments fresh and safe,” he said. “Our goal is to make more fresh and healthy food available by providing our customers with an economical way to prevent damage to their shipments.”

Locus Traxx offers the SmartTraxx monitoring equipment in permanent and portable versions.
