The fresh produce benefits Navidad en el Barrio, a nonprofit that serves more than 20,000 Southern California families in need each Christmas season.

The truck stopped for organic romaine hearts, Heritage Blend salads and other items Dec. 11 at a Taylor Farms loading dock. La Canada Flintridge-based Allen Lund provided free pickups there and at three more shippers.

Idaho Falls, Idaho-based Wada Farms Marketing Group LLC donated a half truckload of potatoes. Monterey-based Sunsation Farms Inc. and Fillmore-based Fillmore Piru Citrus Association also donated fresh produce.

It’s the seventh year Allen Lund has contributed to Navidad en el Barrio.

“It allows so many to celebrate during these challenging times,” Kenny Lund, vice president of support operations, said in a news release. “We are happy to be a small part of a big project to help feed so many and want to especially thank our customers who donate so much to make it all work.”
