Xata Corp. certifies Motorola Xyboard tablets

With the addition of the Motorola Xyboard to the list of Android devices certified to work with the Xata Turnpike fleet management system, the Xata Corp. hopes to increase customers’ flexibility to distribute fresh produce via truck.

The Eden Prairie, Minn., technology company announced the addition of the Motorola device Jan. 12 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, according to a news release. The Motorola Xyboard joins a dozen other Android devices certified for use with Xata systems in the past year, said Xata vice president Christian Schenk.

Described as a next-generation tablet, the Xyboard is lighter and more powerful than its predecessors. It is available with an 8.2-inch or 10.1-inch widescreen, high definition display. It has dual-core 1.2GHz processors and features 1GB of RAM, all protected by Motorola’s water-repellent, nano-coating, which resists accidental spills and splashes.

Xata Turnpike technology runs on drivers’ cell phones, smartphones or tablet computers. The system delivers real-time information on vehicle and driver performance to allow fleet managers, dispatchers and drivers to collect, sort, view and analyze data to help reduce costs, increase food safety and compliance, and improve customer satisfaction.
