Earthcycle Packaging is expanding the distribution of its products in Eastern Canada through its partnership with Ontario-based Crawford SupplyLINE.
Shannon Boase, president and founder of Earthcycle, Vancouver, British Columbia, said the company was in talks with Crawford SupplyLINE for much of the year before formalizing the partnership in early October.
“We’ve been talking about it for while we wanted to make sure it was the right time,” Boase said.
While Boase said she’s not sure how many more companies will use Earthcycle’s packaging due to the new partnership, she said it reduces shipping times for eastern Canadian businesses. Monte Packaging is Earthcycle’s U.S. distributor for the Midwest and East Coast, as well as for Ontario and Quebec, according to the company. Earthcycle also has distribution in Australia and New Zealand, Boase said.
"We are proud to have established this relationship with Earthcycle,” said Martin Schieck, Crawford SupplyLINE’s vice president of sales and marketing, in a news release.
Earthcycle’s compostable packaging is made from palm fiber, a waste product discarded when the palm fruit is harvested throughout the year for its oil, and complies with Food and Drug Administration requirements for contact with food.
