To date, the company has donated $50,000 and 150,000 pounds of fresh produce altogether, through promotions and employee contributions, which were matched by the company. These donations were made to the national office and distributed throughout the country.
“Feeding America is grateful to the Giumarra Cos. for their contributions of both funds and fresh produce to help us feed the millions of Americans who live at risk of hunger,” Vicki Escarra, president and chief executive officer of Feeding America, said in a news release. “Our food banks and the food pantries and the soup kitchens they serve are now feeding more than 5.7 million people each and every week — an increase of 46% in just four short years. Giumarra has stepped forward to help us in a time of great need.”
Donations will continue through next year.
“We are very grateful to Feeding America, our growers and our retail partners who worked with us to make these contributions possible,” Hillary Brick, senior vice president of marketing at Giumarra, said in the release. “‘Feeding the world in a healthy way’ is something we live by and this partnership assists us in making our philosophy a reality.”
