JTS wins family business award

Third-party logistics company Johanson Transportation Service is the winner of the 2011 California Family Business Award.

The Fresno, Calif.-based company received the honors during a ceremony hosted by the Institute for Family Business and The Business Journal, according to a news release.

Richard Johanson founded the company in 1971. His son, Larry, took over as president in 1989 when Richard retired. Amanda Johanson, Larry’s daughter, works in logistics and supply chain management at JTS, according to the release.

The ten finalists were nominated based on criteria including longevity, innovation, instituting a succession plan and contributing to the community, according to the release.
