Maxco Supply Inc., a Parlier, Calif.-based carton manufacturer, has begun construction on a solar energy project that will cut the companyâs energy use by more than 50%.
The four-acre solar energy system under construction at Maxco Supply Inc., Parlier, Calif., is expected to be on line before the peak of the stone fruit and table grape harvests this summer.
The four-acre solar array, being built on land adjacent to Maxcoâs headquarters, is projected to produce nearly 1.7 million kilowatt-hours per year.
âWeâre very excited about implementing Maxcoâs Solar City, as it speaks directly to our mission of providing truly sustainable products to our customers,â Mark Flaming, vice president of sales and operations, said in the release. âItâs good for the community, itâs good for the environment, and itâs good for Maxco, which makes it a win/win for everyone.â
The solar energy project, which was designed and is being installed by Cenergy Power, Carlsbad, Calif., is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 1,200 metric tons annually, according to the release.
Construction is expected to be completed by the start of summer when stone fruit and table grape harvests begin to peak.
