Maxwell Chase Technologies has introduced a machine that weighs, fills and seals fresh-cut produce into absorbent pouches.
The Atlanta-based company says the MCT pouches extend the shelf life of produce to 12-18 days, according to a news release.
The system comprises two conveyors, two weigh stations, and two filling and sealing stations. It’s capable of processing 18 pouches per minute, filling 2.5-, 5- or 7-pound pouches.
“One of the consistent feedbacks I get from customers is that our absorbent pouches give superior results over ribbed-bottom trays but they are difficult to fill. The new MCT Absorbent Pouch Filling System solves this problem and provides a cost-effective packaging solution,” Tom Gautreaux, national sales director, said in the release.
The company plans to display the machine at the United Fresh Produce Association convention April 21-22 in Las Vegas at booth 226.
