An Ontario company has created a system for treating and recycling fertilized irrigation runoff water used in greenhouses.

The Fertigation Treatment System created by Leamington-based Climate Control Systems Inc. will cut growers’ irrigation water costs by up to 30% and fertilizer costs by as much as 40%, according to a company news release.

The system collects used irrigation water, filters it and treats it with patented Plasma Ozone Sterilization technology to kill bacteria, pathogens and viruses.

Climate Control Systems, founded in 1985, also has patented its Climate Manager and Fertigation Manager systems.
