Canadian grower-shipper Peak of the Market, Winnipeg, Manitoba , has exceeded its fundraising goal for earthquake-stricken Haiti.

In February, the company donated 20 cents for every bag of its vegetables purchased in Manitoba to the Canadian Red Cross, donating $51,868 from the sales over its original goal of $40,000, according to a news release.

The company said more than 259,000 bags of locally grown vegetables were sold during the fundraiser between Feb. 8-28.

Peak of the Market donated a total of $60,000 for the Haitian relief effort, according to the release, the largest cash donation in the company’s history.
