A western New York grocer is opening a smaller fresh-focused concept store.

Orchard FreshTops Markets LLC plans to open Orchard Fresh, a small-format store in the upscale Buffalo, N.Y., suburb of Orchard Park, N.Y.

If the new store is successful, the Williamsville, N.Y.-based chain may use it as a template for expansion, according to a news release.

Orchard Fresh plans to offer restaurant-quality meals, including wood-oven pizzas and other fresh meals and fresh and specialty foods.

The store also plans to offer of organic produce.

Currently, Tops stocks more than 150 organic produce items, but growing consumer demand is helping increase the number of offerings daily, Tops officials said in the release.

The new store also plans to carry a variety of local produce and floral.

“We currently have a strong potted herb program grown in Eden Valley, N.Y., and carry tomatoes on the vine, produced with green energy out of Lewiston, N.Y.,” Jeff Cady, Tops’ produce category manager, said in the release. “That commitment will carry into other locally grown product as it becomes available.”

Tops operates 150 company owned supermarkets under the Tops, Grand Union and Bryant’s banners and others operate as five franchise locations.

This store is mind-blowing! Love, love, love. And they carry our FAVORITE PRODUCT EVER - Cheeky Monkey Tomato Garlic Dipping Oil. Liquid crack for sure. It's refrigerated, sometimes a little tricky to find. Grab some bread here, too - they have some awesome stuff. Well done, Orchard Fresh!!
