Chains switching to Fox protective bag
More and more grocery chains are switching to a specially designed potato bag that Fox Packaging, McAllen, Texas, developed as a result of research conducted at the Michigan State University School of Packaging, said Gabriel Cuellar, the company’s vice president of business development.
The research showed exposure to light is responsible for potatoes turning green, so Fox Packaging developed a bag that has a protective film called Fox Combo Ultra Shield that blocks more than 99% of the light on one side of the bag but has a mesh covering on the other side that allows the product to breathe.
