Aimed at the back-to-school market, the 3-pound resealable bags will hit stores nationwide in September, according to a news release.

Wenatchee, Wash.-based Stemilt Growers introduced Lil Snappers last year. D’Anjou pears also appear under the label, as do gala, granny smith, Pink Lady, Pinata, fuji, braeburn and Honeycrisp apples. Organic Lil Snappers ship under the Artisan Organics label.

The company began harvesting bartlett pears in mid-August. The Washington pear crop is estimated to be down 15% from last year, but still ample.

“Bartlett pear Lil Snappers are a great item to promote at retail this fall,” marketing director Roger Pepperl said in the release.

Lil Snappers ship in a display-ready carton holding nine 3-pound bags.

A pop-up display bin holding up to 12 of the standup bags is also available. A quick-response code on that bin lets shoppers with smartphones access recipes, activity sheets for children and nutrition information. The bin also carries the Fruits & Veggies More Matters logo.
