Cal Giant partners with Concord Foods again

After a successful freshman effort, California Giant Berry Farms is bringing back its South American blueberry promotion with baking goods specialist Concord Foods.

Watsonville, Calif.-based California Giant will encourage consumers to pair its Chilean blueberries with Concord’s muffin mix.

“Last year it worked out really well,” said Jewell. “It’s an easy way to make blueberry muffins. You grab the mix and a pint of blueberries, and you don’t need much else.”

With fall, blueberries move onto center stage for California Giant as the South American season begins, Jewell said.

To promote use throughout the fall and winter, the company launched the partnership with Concord Foods.

The companies’ winter baking promotion will target consumers Nov. 1 through Nov. 30, Jewell said. It helps keep fresh berries in the grocery cart and on consumers’ plates, Jewell said, as people shift to warming up the kitchen with winter baking recipes.

“We’re looking forward to engaging our growing consumer fan base with another fun promotion with a national co-partner,” Jewell said. “It’s a great way to cap off a successful year and give our blueberries an extra push during a peak season.”

California Giant and Concord Foods’ Winter Baking Recipe Contest will encourage consumers to submit an original recipe featuring California Giant blueberries and Concord Foods muffin mix as ingredients.

Entries will be accepted through www.calgiant.com/win. At the close of the promotion period, a panel overseen by the sponsors will judge submitted recipes.

Several winners will receive gift cards and fresh product from both companies. Winning recipes will be featured on all social media outlets for both companies following the promotion period.

In addition, throughout November California Giant and Concord Foods will feature the promotional opportunity on social media and You Tube. And quick-response codes on fresh blueberry packaging will drive consumers to the website, Jewell said, where they can learn how to enter the contest.
