The Reedley, Calif.-based produce marketer is introducing the product under its Forry’s Finest label to coincide with the start of stone fruit season.
“We felt like a package with a variety of right-sized fruit for children would help parents with that goal because so many supermarket bulk displays are filled with fruit that can weigh up to 9 ounces,” John Forry, vice president, said in a news release. “ We believe our Trio provides parents the opportunity to provide a variety of fruit, sized right for kids, and helps eliminate waste.”
The company test marketed Summer Fruit Trio with two retailers in 2012.
“Sales from our Trio pack added incremental sales to the stone fruit category with little if any cannibalization of bulk sales,” vice president of marketing Ray England said in the release.
The product fills a void in the stone fruit category, England said.
