EARTHBOUND FARM: Jill Mazer, senior manager of customer development Northeast for San Juan Batista, Calif.-based Earthbound Farm, shows off an addition to the PowerMeal Bowl lineup: Chia & Soba Noodles & Asian Greens. The meal kit includes a fork and retails for $4.99, she says.

CHURCH BROS.: Katy Blowers, project manager for Church Bros. LLC, says the Salinas, Calif.-based grower-shipper now offers 2.5-pound bulk bags of kale.

Crunch PakFred WilkinsonCrunch Pak CRUNCH PAK: Cashmere, Wash.-based Crunch Pak’s Foodles line of snack packs now includes a pack featuring baby carrots, pretzels, cheese cubes and ranch dip, says marketing and product developer Krista Jones. The packs should retail in the $2.29-3.49 range, she says.

WP RAWL: Pelion, S.C.-based WP Rawl has added to its kale product line with its Tangy Citrus salad kit, says Christine Jackson, executive assistant. The kits contain kale, shredded broccoli and carrots, red cabbage, sunflower seeds and dried cranberries. The kits are rolling out now in the eastern half of the U.S., she says.

C&S WHOLESALE GROCERS: Nancy Richards, operations manager for Keene, N.H.-based C&S, says the company is licensing the Foxy brand name from The Nunes Co. for its organic vegetable tray available to retailers in the Northeast. The trays have celery sticks, baby carrots, grape tomatoes and broccoli florets along with T. Marzetti organic ranch dip. The tray should retail for $8.99-9.99, with an on-ad sale price of $6.99-7.99, she says.

SEALD SWEET: Vero Beach, Fla.-based Seald Sweet International has begun packing grapes imported from Peru in clamshells before shipping, said Mayda Sotomayor-Kirk, chief executive officer.
Packaging the fruit before shipping helps ensure a higher quality product arrives on stores shelves in the U.S., she said.

SETTON FARMS: Elise Silvester, saleswoman, and Joseph Setton, vice president of domestic sales for Commack, N.Y.-based Setton Farms, show off Pistachio Chewy Bites, individually wrapped pistachios with dried cranberries and agave nectar. Six-pack bags retail for $5.99 and come in 54-bag retail display-ready boxes, Setton says.

Del Rey Avocado is entering the blueberry market.Fred WilkinsonDel Rey Avocado Co.DEL REY AVOCADO CO.: Fallbrook, Calif.-based Del Rey Avocado entered the blueberry market for the first time this fall, says Patrick Lucy, salesman. Del Rey is importing fruit from Peru, grown by TAL SA on about 100 acres, Lucy said. Shipments began in October and continued in early December, he said, adding that Del Rey is considering shipping organic blueberries from Peru in the future.

PEAR BUREAU: Pear Bureau Northwest, Milwaukie, Ore., is planning a retail display contest beginning in February, said Bob Catinella, Sudbury, Mass.-based regional marketing director. The contest will have 39 winners in three categories: one to five registers, six to nine registers and 10 or more, Catinella said.
First place winners in each category will receive $1,000, second place winners $750 and third place $500, he said. Ten receiving honorable mention in each category will win $150 each.
Catinella said the contest is geared so smaller stores have a chance to compete. Displays will be judged on appearance, creativity and their educational impact. The contest is planned to run through March.

CENTRAL AMERICAN PRODUCE INC.: Hard squash grown in Guatemala is the focus for Pompano Beach, Fla.-based Central American Produce this season, says Shannon Barthel, marketing director. Central American Produce’s growers there are at a high altitude with a dry climate, which produces squash with deep color and rich flavor, she says.

Nathel & NathelFred WilkinsonNathel & NathelNATHEL & NATHEL: Nathel & Nathel, a wholesaler on New York’s Hunts Point produce terminal, is offering orange and yellow grape tomatoes on the vine in clamshell packs, says Richard Straus, vegetable buyer. Also among its tomato offerings are 10-ounce stand-up bags of Sunripe brand red grape tomatoes.

KERRY’S KITCHEN GARDENS: Apoka, Fla.-based Kerry’s Kitchen Gardens is offering year-round greenhouse-grown fresh herbs and microgreens packaged for retail and foodservice, says president and chief executive officer Kerry Herndon, displaying microthyme. The company’s new growing and packing facility is undergoing final certification and is scheduled to be ready to ship product throughout the Eastern U.S. starting in January, he says.
