BOSTON — A large crowd of exhibitors and distributors packed the opening reception of the New England Produce Council’s Produce and Floral Expo.

The council opened its 14th Produce and Floral Expo with high attendance at a conference reception.In its 14th year, the council’s expo is scheduled for April 3 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
This year’s event kicked off with its traditional pre-show party overlooking the city and waterfront at the State Room at 60 State Street Center.
“The show is great,” said Rick Dacey, senior business manager of State Garden Co. Inc., Chelsea. “The reception is packed and the expo will be packed as well. We’re seeing a lot of interest. There are a lot of independent retailers here.”
Participants from throughout North America were treated to views of the city.
“The opening night offers really great views,” said Beth McGuire, the council’s secretary-treasurer and account executive in the produce division of Johnson, O’Hare Food Brokers, Billerica. “Attendance is fabulous. Lots of retailers will be at the show.”
“County Fair” is this year’s expo theme.
